Best Mt. Fuji Breakfast Spot: The Park Cafe in Yamanakako

April 29, 2024

If you're looking to escape the crowds of Kawaguchiko, head to the tranquil Yamanakako around Mount Fuji. It's definitely worth a visit!

This time, I discovered a hidden gem where you can enjoy breakfast with a stunning view of Mount Fuji:

This restaurant is very popular. It opens at 10 am, and customers line up early to secure the best lake view seats facing Mount Fuji.

Yamanakako is less crowded and has beautiful scenery! There are several sightseeing spots around the lake that are well worth visiting:

白鳥浜

Around 8:30am and 4pm, you can see flocks of swans appear here. There's an elderly gentleman who comes to feed the swans, creating a dreamlike scene to photograph.

Hirano Beach (平野の浜)

From here you can capture Mount Fuji's reflection on the lake with an open view, and occasionally spot a few swans swimming by.

Nagaike Water Park (長池親水公園)

This is where we had breakfast! There are reed fields, swans, and a pleasant walking path around the lake.

🚗Transportation Tips

  • From Tokyo: Take a highway bus from Shinjuku directly to Yamanakako.
  • From Kawaguchiko: There is a direct bus from Kawaguchiko Station (河口湖駅). The earliest bus is at 6:50 am, perfect for photographing Mount Fuji before it's backlit. Buses run every 2 hours.

Note: Transportation in Yamanakako is relatively inconvenient, with buses only every 2 hours and taxis hard to find. Plan your visit carefully to avoid long waits.

🏡Accommodation Recommendation

I highly recommend staying overnight in Yamanakako. This time we stayed in Kawaguchiko and had to get up early to take the bus. But Yamanakako has many charming local inns and hotels with quiet, relaxing environments perfect for enjoying the sunrise and sunset views.
